Samarawickrama, Sana and Reddy Nominated for ICC Women’s Player of Month Award for February 2026

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month award for February 2026, with three top cricketers from different countries being nominated for the award. Sri Lankan batter Harshitha Samarawickrama, Pakistan’s all-round and captain Fatima Sana, and Indian pacer Arundhati Reddy have been nominated for the award after displaying impressive performances for their respective teams.

Sri Lanka cricketer Harshitha Samarawickrama has played a key role for the side, helping the team win the ODI series against West Indies. The top-order batter has been one of the most dependable players for Sri Lanka, emerging as the highest run-scorer of the series with 171 runs at an average of 57.00, playing three matches of the series with scores of 66, 35, and 70.

Samarawickrama showed consistency with her batting, helping Sri Lanka win the ODI series 2-1, with her calm attitude and technical ability helping the team overcome the challenge of playing on foreign soil. Her performance has been rewarded with the Player of the Series award, which shows the importance of the player to the Sri Lankan team.

Another nominee who had a great month was Fatima Sana, the captain of Pakistan, during their tour of South Africa. Although the tour was not very successful for the team, losing both the ODI and T20I series 2-1, Fatima Sana had great performances with both the bat and the ball. She was in top form in the T20I series, where she was crowned the highest run-scorer with 146 runs at an average of 73.00 and an impressive strike rate of 184.81.

The highlight of Sana’s performance came in the T20I opener, where she hit an impressive 90 runs in the game. She followed it with 47 in the third match, where she was unbeaten and took two wickets for 12 runs. She was not only in top form with the bat but was also taking crucial wickets in the series, taking four wickets in the ODI series and two in the T20I series.
