Sri Lanka end their day 1 campaign with two medals as Tharushi Karunaratne and Jayeshi Uththara win the Silver and Bronze medals in the Girl’s 400m finals at the Asian U20 Athletics Championship
India finished decimals ahead to win the Gold while the Sri Lankan girls who ran well on their heats, ensured that both of them ended on the podium. They were the last pair who competed today of an eventful day.
Dinara Dela Bandara qualified to the Girl’s 100m final as she finished in 1st place for her heats, clocking 12.04 seconds. Merone Wijesinghe recorded his personal best timing of 10.75 seconds in the Boy’s 100m Semi Final but was not able to qualify for the finals as he finished in 6th place. Shehan Dilranga also missed a final berth as he came 6th in the Boy’s 800m Final.
