Sri Lanka placed 4th in Medal tally!

Asian U20 Athletics Championship

It’s raining medals in Yecheon today as two Golds and one Bronze were added to Sri Lanka’s medal tally, who are currently placed 4th in the medal table at the Asian U20 Athletics Championship.
Tharushi Karunaratne was the star of the day as she had her name on both Golds today in addition to her Silver at the 400m yesterday. She won the 800m Final today with a timing of 2 minutes 5.64 seconds. She also tops the best performers list as of now with her medal tally.
Sri Lanka at the end of today win the 4x400m Mixed Relay, their second Gold medal. The team comprising of Vinodh Ariyawansha, Jayeshi Uththara, Shehan Dilranga and Tharushi karunaratne, finished the race as the timing showed 3 minutes 25.41 seconds. It was a close race as a collision pushed India to 3rd place and Tharushi overtook Korea at the bend to finish with another Gold and her third medal.
Malith Yasiru won the Bronze medal in the Men’s Triple Jump finals with a best performance of 15.82m (+1.6 wind). Dinara Dela Bandara despite her efforts in the Heats, came in 8th at the Women’s 100m finals.
Sri Lanka’s medal tally stands at 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.
