200 riders to compete in the Gunner Supercross

“Gunner Supercross”—Sri Lanka’s most popular and prestigious motor car and motorcycle racing event, organized for the 16th consecutive year by the Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers Association in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment—will take place on the 27th of this month at the Artillery Regiment’s gravel track in Minneriya.

According to the championship race calendar released by the Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers Association for 2026, a decision has been made to hold only two race meets this year; accordingly, arrangements have been finalized for the Gunner Supercross and the Rotherham Katukurunda events.

Amidst stringent security measures, 20 racing events have been included this year, with ticket proceeds dedicated to the welfare of war heroes. Time trials and practice sessions for the Gunner Supercross tournament are scheduled for the 26th, and 92 car drivers and 110 motorcyclists have already registered.

Major General Janaka Ranasinghe, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers Association, stated that a large number of the country’s leading car and motocross riders are participating in this tournament with a high level of competitiveness and professionalism.

He further noted—speaking at a media briefing held at Grand Maitland—that ‘Gunner Supercross’ is not merely a sporting event, but also a platform to contribute to the welfare of war heroes and their families, as well as to community-based social service activities.
