Sri Lanka Fall Short In Lakmal’s Last Test

Suranga Lakmal bade farewell today from International Cricket as Sri Lanka fell short in reaching the target, with 2 days to spare.

Sri Lanka managed 109 runs in the first Innings in reply to India’s 252. India declared at 308 to give Sri Lanka a near impossible target of 447. Spin duo Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama impressed with 6 and 7 wickets from both Innings.

Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis reseumed day 3 play today and Kusal Mendis scored a half century in his very first Test match since his international ban. He was stumped in the next over, followed by the remaining batters who failed to make any significant contributions.

Dimuth Karunaratne was a lone warrior once again as he scored a century, only to be clean bowled by Jasprit Bumrah. He made only 107 runs. The tail was cleaned up, including Lakmal who batted one last time but received acknowledgement from the Indian team.

Sri Lanka were all out for 208. Shreyas Iyer was the man of the match and Rishab Pant was man of the series.
