Dimuth misses world record; Half a century from Nissanka

The second Test of the two-match series between the West Indies and Sri Lanka began yesterday (29) in Galle.

At the end of the first day Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 113 runs for the loss of one wicket.

Due to the rain that fell in the morning, the first day's match started at 3 pm Sri Lanka time. Accordingly, the judges planned to finish lunch and tea on the first day and run 45 overs from 3 to 6 pm. However, due to poor lighting conditions, only 34 overs and 4 balls could be played when the match was stopped.
Charith Asalanka was named in the squad to replace fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera, who made one change to the Sri Lankan squad that played in the first match.

Charith Asalanka, 24, became the 157th Sri Lankan Test cricketer to win international Test cricket in his hometown.
The West Indies have made two changes to replace Veerasammy Permaul and Kemar Roch with Shannon Gabriel and Rahkeem Cornwall. The 32-year-old left-arm spinner is the first player to play in an international Test match since 2015.
Dimuth, who was trailing by another half-century to equal the record for most consecutive half-centuries in world Test cricket, was bowled out for 42 by Sri Lanka with the first wicket. Dimuth's innings, which was a bit slower than the one in the first Test, included four fours and six sixes.
Pathum Nissanka, who batted very patiently, scored the third Test half-century of his short international Test career today. At the end of the day he was unbeaten on 61 * with 4 fours and one six.

Oshada Fernando scored 2 *. Chase, a right-arm spinner, took one wicket for 33 runs.
