Cricket Board of South Africa Releases Statement By De Kock

The Cricket Board of South Africa has released an official statement made by Quinton De Kock on his stance towards not taking the knee prior to the match against West Indies, citing personal reasons.

He was criticised by fans over the world on his stance towards racism, especially on social media given that he has done the same against their previous series against West Indies and their World Cup opponents. This caused a huge outrage as he stood his ground and to not participate in the gesture that was instructed by CSA.

“I come from a mixed family. My two half sisters are coloured and my step mother is black.” stressed De Kock on the allegations where he was called a racists towards people of colour. He later says that it was selfish on his to do so but stated that he felt like his rights were taken away when he was told to do the gesture.

As a person who believes in true actions beyond gestures, he states that he did not want to cause any sort of outrage in him not taking part in the movement. Racism has no place in the world or in sports and he wants to keep playing for his country as a South African cricketer who believes in equality.
