Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force emerged super league men’s and women’s champions at the Munchee National Volleyball Championships concluded at Youth Service Centre in Maharagama recently. Soldiers defeated MAS Leisueline 3-1 at the men’s final while Air Force women team beat Sri Lanka Navy team 3-0 to take the women’s super league title.
At the men’s final soldiers lost their first set 19-25 but they fought back strongly to win their next three sets 25/12, 25/21, 25/22 to clinch this major title after nine years. Air Force women’s team recorded 25/20, 25/22, 25/14 to get the major title over Navy team comfortably. Sri Lanka Port Authority and Sri Lanka Army won the third places at men’s and women’s super league tournament respectively.
Mahela Indeewara of Sri Lanka Army won the most valuable player award at the men’s super league tournament while Anusha Sandamali of Air Force was adjudged most valuable player award at the women’s super league tournament.
Meanwhile, Ocean Lanka SC Biyagama defeated Golden Tigers SC Kurunegala to win the men’s Novices tournament. At the Novices, women’s section Kahatuduwa Hydramani team emerged Novices women’s champion defeating Mawussawewa Ratnapala SC.
Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation President Education Service Minister Ranjith Siyabalapitiya was the Chief Guest and gave away the awards Special awards

Best receiver –Lahiru Deshan (MAS Leisueline )Best setter – Amila Masachi(Army), the Best attacker –Tharusha Chamath Dilshan(MAS Leisureline), Best defender – Shamil Malinda Silva (Army), Best player –D.M, S Wickramasinghe (Army )
Women’s super league
Best server –Y.G Sanjeewani (Navy), Best receiver –S.M Shayma (Air Force), Best setter – M.P Thushari (Air Force), Best attacker A.L.A Anuththara(Air Force), Best defender –Dinesha Prasadini(Air Force), Best Player Dinusha Sanjeewani (Navy )
