Sri Lankan Duo Set to Shine at World Para Athletics Championship

Sri Lanka will have double representation on the track and field today as two of its top para athletes compete at the World Para Athletics Championship.

Buddhika Fernando, who impressed earlier in the men’s T47 100 m, now turns his focus to the men’s T47 long jump final. Known for his explosive speed on the runway, Buddhika has been fine-tuning his technique and will be aiming to better his personal best against a strong international field.

On the track, Janani Dhananjana takes on the women’s T47 100 m event. Janani, one of the rising stars of Sri Lankan para athletics, has shown steady improvement throughout the season and is determined to make her mark on the global stage.

Team officials expressed confidence in both athletes, noting their commitment and preparation despite the high-pressure environment. Their performances today will not only highlight individual talent but also reflect Sri Lanka’s growing presence in para athletics.
