Sri Lanka Rugby Sevens team leaves for France

The Sri Lankan men's rugby sevens team left yesterday to participate in the prestigious Howard Hinton Sevens tournament in France. Sri Lanka Rugby President Pavithra Fernando said that the tournament in France is considered a major step in the preparations for this year's Asian Games.
Facing some of the world's top rugby sevens teams, the tournament is expected to provide valuable high-level exposure and development opportunities for Sri Lankan players. It is believed that a tournament in a country like France will provide a true assessment of the Sri Lankan team as they chase their dream of winning a historic Asian Games medal.
The Sri Lanka Rugby Sevens squad, which won the Central Asian Rugby Championship a few days ago, has been further strengthened and will be participating in this tournament, with Pasindu Suriyabandara named as the captain and Janindu Dilshan as the vice-captain. Chathuru Vidanalage, Akash Madhusankha, Kavindu Costa, Kavindu Perera,
Ravindu Anjula, Ramitha Nimesh, Suranga Tennakoon, Diluksha Dange, Gayan Perera, Chemod Muthunayake have joined the team. Denuwan Wickramarachchi, Maliksha Perera and Jayatu Rajaratne have been kept in the squad.

Teams from 11 French rugby clubs are participating in the Howard Hinton Sevens tournament, along with rugby sevens teams from Ukraine, Monaco and Switzerland.
