Sri Lankan women's volleyball team secured 6th place at the Central Asian (CAVA) Women's Volleyball Championship held in Kathmandu, Nepal yesterday.
Sri Lanka finished 6th after losing the match against Kyrgyzstan for 5th place 3-1. Sri Lanka started the match well, winning the first round 25-15. However, the Kyrgyz players intensified the fight in the second and third rounds, and Kyrgyzstan won both rounds 25-23.
The semi-finals of the tournament will be held today, where India and Kazakhstan will face off, and Iran and Nepal will face off. The tournament is scheduled to conclude tomorrow (29), when the two matches for the gold and bronze medals will be held that day.
rth round, the Kyrgyz women defeated Sri Lanka 25-15 to secure 5th place. Maldives finished 7th and Bangladesh 8th in the 8-team tournament.
