Sri Lanka’s rising fast bowler Nuwan Thushara has reportedly missed out on a potential opportunity to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after not receiving the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the national cricket authorities.
Thushara, known for his distinctive slingy bowling action reminiscent of legendary pacers, has been gaining attention in international and franchise cricket circles. His recent performances in limited-overs formats had sparked interest from IPL franchises ahead of the upcoming season.
However, sources indicate that administrative or scheduling constraints prevented the issuance of the NOC, a mandatory clearance for Sri Lankan players to take part in overseas leagues. As a result, Thushara will remain in Sri Lanka, focusing on domestic commitments and national duties.
Cricket analysts believe the decision, while disappointing for both the player and fans, could allow Thushara to further refine his skills and maintain fitness ahead of future international assignments. “He is a talent with immense potential. Missing one season of the IPL does not define his career,” a former selector commented.
Despite the setback, Thushara is expected to continue training and remain in contention for upcoming international fixtures. Many believe that with his current trajectory, opportunities on the global stage—including future IPL seasons—are likely to come his way.
For now, Sri Lankan supporters will be watching closely as one of their promising fast bowlers looks ahead with determination, awaiting his next big break.
