The red gold and blue Jersey in the park can bring shivers to the opposition, especially with their strong defence and ability to stand rock solid in winning turnover balls defending their 5 meter white wash.
Trinity forwards are lighting fast in defence. However, the same credit lacks intent with their three quarters who have been guilty of being flat footed more often than not.They lacked penetration and must create the spaces with the correct running lines.They must be more disciplined.
At number 15, Shan Altaf stands tall in attack , the line synchronises well when he joins them using his individual brilliance that has raised many eye brows this season.
Altaf gets plenty of territorial advantage for the lions .Opposition is under pressure, they must work on getting those important penalties in the opposition territory because Althaf slots them with accuracy and rarely misses.
Altaf and his drop goals can be a menace to the opposition.
Trinity is excellent in defence, but the missing link is their ball handling,formation at times,running hard against their opponents with more three quarter ploys.
Sadly, they butter fingured too many opportunities in the recently concluded president knockout trophy that deprived them of a few scores.
The Lions also have
indiscipline in conceeding too many penalties in the formation of rucks,line outs,lack of discipline in the fringes which needs immediate attention and improvement.
The team is physically well conditiond but tends to lose territorial advantage due to an over enthusiastic mindset , which will cost them dearly going forward.Finishing is the key when your Opposition try line is glaring at you.
I am sure coach Fazil Marja knows these pin pricks better and will mould this team to be better with time. Hence, he will address their line out follies and work on the teams virus of conceeding far too many penalties in a game .
Trinity has been dominant with their forwards , structured in their pick and go execution, so hopefully, the Lions will roar this season and get better when the season continues?.
Trinity , Royal , St Joseph’s, Vidyartha, Sri Sumangala, and Thurstan are in group 3 A. Guess arch rivals Trinity and Royal will book their respective slots in the business round.
Trinity will breathe a sigh of relief that they have no dark horses in their group
