The 49th National Age Group Swimming Championships organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatics Association concluded recently with fourteen new records.
About 2,000 athletes participated in the tournament, which was held from the 7th.
Of the 14 new records, Rushali Dissanayake of Musius College set three new records in the Under-15 category, and Nawanjana Siriwardena of Wattala Lyceum College set two new records in the Under-20 category.
Disali Loku Withana of the Royal Institute set two new competition records in the under-13 age group, and Senasi Herath set two new competition records in the over-20 age group.
The Under-20 Boys Championship was won by Nick De Silva of Lyceum College, Wattala, while the Girls Championship was won by Damsarani Senanayake of the Defence Services College.
The Under-17 Boys’ Championship was won by Muaz Bari of the Asian International School and the Girls’ Championship was won by Julie Hope of the Gepari Doolapandan Swimming School.
The Under 15 Boys Championship was won by Dulaksha Ganidu of Lyceum International School, Gampaha and the Girls Championship was won by Rushali Dissanayake of Musius College.
The Under-13 Boys’ Co-Championship was won by AHM Hakeem of Lyceum International School, Wattala and WS Siriwardena of SNS Swimming School
The girls’ championship was won by Disali Loku Vithana of the Royal Institute, while the boys’ championship under 11 years of age was won by Sethun Rajapaksa of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, and the girls’ championship was won by H.M. Herath of Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy.
Lyceum International School, Wattala won the overall girls’ championship at the 49th National Age Group Swimming Championships, while St. Joseph’s College, Maradana won the overall boys’ championship.
