SL v BAN, 1st T20I – Sri Lanka seals a nail-biting victory at Sylhet Stadium

In a thrilling match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka triumphed over Bangladesh by a narrow margin of 3 runs in their first T20I game.

The game began with Bangladesh’s skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto winning the toss and choosing to field first. Sri Lanka lost their first wicket in just the second ball of the match. However, Kusal Mendis came to the rescue with a quickfire 59 runs, helping Sri Lanka to bounce back. Sadeera Samarawickrama and skipper Charith Asalanka also played outstandingly, contributing unbeaten scores of 61 runs and 44 runs respectively, helping Sri Lanka reach a formidable total of 206/3 in their 20 overs.

In response, Bangladesh faced a tough challenge chasing down the mammoth target. They lost four wickets within the first 10 overs. But Jaker Ali’s brilliant batting performance brought some hope for Bangladesh supporters until the last moment. Ali scored 68 runs before being dismissed by Dasun Shanaka in the 19.3 over. Eventually, Sri Lanka’s dominant performance seals a 3-run win over Bangladesh.
