Sri Lanka won today’s match against Zimbabwe by 184 runs. They were bowled out cheaply for 70 when chasing a target of 255 runs.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis put 80 runs for the first wicket until the latter fell on 36. Wickets fell on regular intervals and Zimbabwe were putting pressure on the Sri Lankan batters.

Pathum reached his second fifty in the series and was dismissed shortly. Charith Asalanka played an important role in the middle order and score 52. Thereafter, Ramesh Mendis and Chamika Karunaratne put a 48 run partnership but got out cheaply.

Sri Lanka were struggling to score and lost too many wickets by the end as they only managed 254 runs for 9. Richard Ngarava picked 2 wickets and Tendai Chatara became the fastest Zimbabwean bowler to reach 100 wickets.

Zimbabwe came to chase and immediately found themselves in trouble with Dushmantha Chameera striking twice in the same over. They kept in losing wicket after wicket. In the end, they managed just 70 runs, the lowest score in Pallekale. Jeffery Vandersay was the pick of the spinners with 4 wickets. Chameera and Ramesh Mendis took 2 each. Kaitano and Burl were the only batters to make double figures.

The man of the match was awarded to Charith Asalanka. Pathum Nissanka was awarded the man of the series. Sri Lanka’s next series is against Australia.
