Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to donate the match proceedings from the ticket sales in the upcoming Australia vs Sri Lanka series. The 1st T20I starts tomorrow.
Tickets were issued from the 4th of July onwards and it was reported that by 3PM, the tickets for the 1st and 2nd T20Is at RPS have been sold out.
Australia’s tour to Sri Lanka has come during a very crucial time of an economic crisis. Apart from the match ticket revenue, SLC also expects $2.5 Million from broadcasting rights and advertising.
It should also be noted that SLC have made another important donation for the athletes taking part in Commonwealth Games. They have pledged to sponsor with LKR 22.5 Million. The Commonwealth Games are due to be held next month in Birmingham.
Last month, SLC made a $2 Million donation to the health sector where 1 million each was donated to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital and Apeksha Cancer Hospital.
