England leep the unbeaten record take the series 2-0 against Sri Lanka

England beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the second Test at the Galle International Cricket Stadium today (15).

With this victory, the England team has won the last six Tests played in Sri Lanka in a row.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat, but were restricted to 126 in the second innings. Taking full advantage of this, England chased down their target with just four wickets in hand in their second innings.

In the second innings, apart from spinner Lasith Ambuldeniya, no other batsman had a chance to cross the 20-run mark. While the irresponsible batting of the Sri Lankan batsmen from the outset was the main reason for the loss, Sri Lanka would not have been able to cross the 100-run mark without Lasith Ambuldeniya’s 40 runs.

Dom Base and Jack Leach took four wickets apiece in the Sri Lankan innings, while skipper Joe Root took the last two wickets of the Sri Lankan innings without conceding a single run.

England’s opener Dom Sibley was unbeaten on 56 and wicketkeeper – batsman Jos Buttler was unbeaten on 46.

Lasith Ambuldeniya, who took three wickets for 73 runs in England’s second innings, took 10 wickets for the first time in a Test match with seven wickets in his first innings. It became the best bowling he has ever recorded in a Test match.
