England 42 runs behind with one wicket in hand

England were 339 for nine at stumps on the third day of the second innings of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Cricket Stadium today (24). With that, England are 42 runs behind Sri Lanka in the first innings.

England skipper Joe Root completed the 19th Test century of his Test career, taking advantage of the match.

Oshadha Fernando was caught by Dilruwan Perera for a run chase to end Joe Root’s innings of 186 runs.

Lasith Ambuldeniya, who bowled brilliantly for Sri Lanka, recorded the best bowling performance of his Test career today. Seven of the nine wickets lost in that England innings were added to his account.

Tomorrow (25) is the fourth day of the match.
