Fifteen new meet records were established while St Peter’s College and A Ratnayaka M.M.V. Walala dominated the point’s tables on the second day of the All-island Schools Games at Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.
Eight records were registered in the boy’s events and seven in the girl’s.
In the Under 18 Girls Javelin Throw D.M.I. Hasanthi of A. Ratnayaka MMV Walala set a new meet record distance of 47.77m while Rumesh Tharanga of St. Peter’s College Colombo set a new meet record in the Under 18 Boys Javelin Throw event.
In the U20 Pole Vault both boys and girls set new meet records. From the Northern Province A Puvitharan improved on his own record with a height of 4.82m in the boys event and N.Dadsitha cleared 3.35m in the girls. Both were students of Chavakachcheri Hindu College, Jaffna.
