Our Lady’s School in Nuwara Eliya created history by winning the inter-school golf tournament for the NEGC Trophy in Nuwara Eliya.
Eights schools in the Nuwara Eliya district and a combined girls school contested the event and Our Lady’s School that was established 117 years ago by Irish nuns were a cut above the rest in the fray. The winning team was represented by Sasindu Upeksha and C Daraniyan and with a combined Stableford score of 73 were the clear winners. Keynasia International School and Lyceum International School were the first and second runners-up respectively.
In the non-handicap category, Our Lady’s School emerged winners with IBS Junior International as the first runner-up and Lyceum International School as the second runner-up.
Prizes were also awarded for the best player Sasindu Upeksha for an impressive 37 points on a very challenging day of golf with strong winds and the occasional shower.
Dialog sponsored the event conducted by the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club which is a vibrant promoter of junior golf.
