Sri Lanka's new hope in javelin throwing, Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, has risen to 7th place in the world rankings.
Rumesh has achieved this position according to the latest rankings released by the World Athletics Association.
He has recorded many outstanding performances in the international athletics arena over the past few years.
Rumesh won the gold medal with a new competition record of 89.28 meters at the Kip Keeno Classic in Nairobi. He surpassed the likes of Olympic gold medalist Thomas Roller and world champion Julius Yego, and this was the second time in 30 days that he had crossed the 89-meter mark.
With this continuous performance, Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage has established himself as one of the world's leading athletes.
