Sri Lanka 10 out of 33 at the Asian Beach Games

Sri Lanka won a gold medal and two silver medals for the first time in history at the Games, which featured 45 countries. Sri Lanka finished the Games among the top 10 countries in the medal table, winning a total of seven medals, including four bronze medals.
This year, 31 countries won medals, with Sri Lanka finishing 10th. Sri Lanka, which had won only 2 bronze medals at the last Asian Beach Games held in Vietnam in 2016, was ranked 33rd in the medal table.

Sri Lanka also participated in the closing ceremony of the Games held yesterday, and Nipuni Wasana, who won the first gold medal, adding Sri Lanka's name to history, joined the closing ceremony carrying the lion flag.
Sri Lanka represented 8 sports at this year's Games, which were held under 14 sports, with 77 athletes participating. Accordingly, under the swimming sports, Sri Lanka was represented in open water swimming, beach athletics, beach wrestling, beach volleyball, beach kabaddi, beach handball, sailing and 3×3 basketball. In addition to the wrestling gold medal, the Sri Lankan team was able to win the women's silver and men's bronze medals in kabaddi, an athletics silver medal and 3 bronze medals.
Although it was planned to be held every two years, this time the Games were held after 10 years. The 7th Games are scheduled to be held in Cebu City, Philippines, in 2028
