Team of the Week: Trinity

This week, the choice was straightforward. As you know, adjudication is based primarily on the quality of rugby played and the top teams in pursuit.
Trinity and Wesley have been the two standout teams this year. They play disciplined, traditional, and open rugby, in which the three-quarters synchronise with the forwards—obviously fast-phase rugby with strong passages of play.
Both teams are solid in defence, making it challenging for any opponent to break through their defensive line.
Trinity and Wesley recycle the ball quickly and match each other in rolling mauls, pick-and-drives, and sending their men to the breakdowns at speed.
Both teams boast excellent ball carriers and continuity in phases—an absolute delight to any rugby enthusiast.
It’s fast and furious—except that Trinity tends to kick aimlessly and lose possession, while Wesley often surrenders possession due to excessive unforced errors.
St Peter’s drop out of the Team of the Week equation mainly due to a lack of continuity in their phases, which explains their low-scoring win against Isipathana.
Royal looked very much in contention. They played excellent rugby against the Thomians, but unlike Trinity, they didn’t shine as a cohesive unit; rather, individual brilliance secured them the win.
Not taking any glory away from their victory, but a few missing links—such as a lack of a proper defensive line—place them at number two.
Trinity: Team of the Week for the second successive week.
