Aichi-Nagoya, Japan — September 28, 2026: Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage has created sporting history by winning the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the 2026 Asian Games.
Tharanga produced a spectacular throw of 88.55 metres to secure the Asian Games title, delivering another landmark achievement in an extraordinary 2026 season. His victory also makes him the first Sri Lankan athlete to win an Asian Games gold medal in the men’s javelin throw
