India Face Bangladesh in Women’s Asia Cup Semi-Final

India will take on Bangladesh in the first semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 on Thursday, September 10, with a place in the final at stake at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

India enter the knockout stage as the Group A winners and one of the tournament’s unbeaten sides, having produced a series of impressive performances during the group phase. Their strong batting line-up and depth in both pace and spin have made them one of the leading contenders for the title.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, secured their place in the last four after defeating the United Arab Emirates by 34 runs in their final group match. Despite being bowled out for 103, Bangladesh defended the total brilliantly, restricting the UAE to 69 for nine. Rabeya Khan led the bowling attack with three wickets, while Nahida Akter and Marufa Akter also made important contributions.

The semi-final presents contrasting challenges for the two teams. India will look to impose their authority with their experienced batting unit, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. Mandhana has been in exceptional form during the tournament and recently became the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket, surpassing Mithali Raj’s record.

Bangladesh, however, will be determined to produce a major upset. Their disciplined bowling attack and fighting spirit could make the contest considerably closer than the rankings suggest.

The winner will advance to the Asia Cup final on September 13. In the other semi-final, defending champions Sri Lanka will meet Pakistan on September 11.

With a place in the championship match within reach, India will start as favourites, but Bangladesh have already shown that they cannot be taken lightly. The stage is set for an intriguing battle between two teams with everything to play for.
