After a long hiatus of 10 years, the ‘Asian Beach Games’ will begin today (22) in Sanya, China, giving athletes from Asia the opportunity to showcase their skills in beach-related sports.
More than 2,000 athletes from 45 countries will participate in the games, which will be held from today to the 30th of this month, including 77 athletes representing Sri Lanka. Of these, 40 are athletes and 37 are athletes.
Meanwhile, the sports events began even before the opening ceremony of the Games, and yesterday the Sri Lankan men's handball team participated in a preliminary round match. In that match, Sri Lanka lost 2-0 to the hosts China. The scores were recorded as 18-8 and 20-8.
