Ravichandran Ashwin makes history as second quickest bowler to 500 Test Wickets

Ravichandran Ashwin scripted history on day 2 of the third Test against England as he reached the milestone of 500 Test wickets. Ashwin, who had 499 wickets before this game, took the crucial wicket of Jack Crawley to become the second Indian after Anil Kumble to achieve this feat.

The 37-year-old became the second quicket bowler to have 500 Test wickets. The right-arm off-spinner took just 98 matches. Only Muthiah Muralitharan has a better record than the Tamil Nadu-based cricketer. Nonetheless, Ashwin is the fastest Indian to 500 wickets. He took seven fewer matches than Kumble.
