Three Sri Lanka weightlifters are expected to take part in IWF Grand Prix ll international Weightlifting Championships 2023(Olympic selection event) from December 4-14 in Qatar.
The Commonwealth Games silver medalist Indika Dissanayake (73kg category) is the most experienced weight lifter in this

three member team while the Asian championship bronze medal winner Isuru Kumara who will take part in 55kg category and Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Hansani Gomes in 49 kg are the other two competitors at this event.
Indika Dissanayake the weight lifter from Sri Lanka Navy said; “we all three competitors are expected to improve our ranking to focus on next Olympics in France and getting good achievement at this Qatar meet will earn more points to better our rankings.

We are presently under training at Torrington Sports Complex while our head coach R.B Wickramasinghe and Assistant coach Navindr Davan always behind us and both of them will accompanied the team.
In recent past Sri Lanka weight lifters were really successful getting more medals at International level and our main target is to get Olympic qualification.
We are expected more assistance from the Sports Ministry to get success.
