Trinity emerges champions for 2nd consecutive year

Trinity College Kandy emerged champion for the second consecutive year of the Under 19 division 1 Tier A inter schools limited Overs cricket tournament yesterday.

Trinity College Kandy beat St. Joseph’s College Colombo by 2 wickets in the final played at Thurstan grounds Colombo on yesterday.

Trinity College Kandy won the toss and elected to field first. St. Joseph’s College Colombo bowled out for 135 runs in 50 overs. Maanasa Madubashana (37*), Lahiru Amarasekara (21), Aveesha Samash (20) and Hirun Kapurubandara (18) helped to build their inning. Tharana Wimaladharma claimed 3 wickets for 22 runs. Malith Rathnayake and Dinuka Thennakoon claimed 2 wickets each.

Trinity College Kandy scored 139 runs for 8 wickets in 39.3 overs. Supun Waduge scored 60 runs in 84 balls with 6 boundaries and a six. Supun Waduge and Manula Kularathne made 65 runs stand for their 5th wicket. Yenula Dewthusa claimed 3 wickets for 32 runs and Nushan Perera claimed 2 wickets for 25 runs.
