Rangadhari wins Girls’ Nestomalt School Games Marathon

In the latest results from the Nestomalt All Island School Games Marathon, Rangadhari Kumarasinghe of Sri Devananda Central College Welimada in the Uva Province emerged victorious in the girls’ half marathon held in Galle on Saturday.

The Uva Province dominated the race with Kumarasinghe clocking an impressive 1:22.36 to cover a distance of 21km. Chamila Siriwardena of Senapathi Maha Vidyalaya Moneragala (Uva Province) secured the silver medal in 1:34.20, while Pabodha Imanani of Welimada Central College (Uva Province) claimed the bronze in 1:34.48.

In line with Nestomalt and the Education Ministry’s initiative to form a national pool of long-distance runners, certificates were awarded to the top 10 winners. The subsequent positions were claimed by GNN Gamage of Dumbara Maha Vidyalaya (Sabaragamuwa Province) in fourth place, Imasha Rasanjali of Vangiyakumbura National School (Uva Province) in fifth, K Thinaji of Udaiyarakadduwa in Mullaitivu (Northern Province) in sixth, N Abhinaya of Rajawella Hindu National College (Central Province) in seventh, Chathurika Dhananjani of Yahalthurawa Maha Vidyalaya (Uva Province) in eighth, Rashmi Yasara Jayawardena of Ruwangiri Central College in Giriulla (North Western Province) in ninth, and Hashani Thakshila of Ambepussa Maha Vidyalaya (Sabaragamuwa Province) in the tenth position.
