Lankan Under-16 Cagers for FIBA tourney

The Sri Lanka Under-16 National Basketball Team has qualified for the FIBA Asian Under-16 Basketball Tournament to be held in Doha, Qatar from September 17 to 24, conducted by the Federation Internationale de Basketball Amateur.

G.K.D.L.C. Prasad Samarathunga, the Principal of Grandpass St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 14, who has been named as the Team Manager said , Under 16 National Basketball team qualified from South Asian Basketball Qualifier Tournament held in Colombo from August 28 to 31. Tharindu Darshan Punandu will be the Head coach, Shane Romesh Daniel will be the Assistant coach and the chef de Mission, W. Anthony Fernando, the Team manager, Prasad Samaratunga, Physiotherapist, H.P. M. Indunil Shanta will join the tournament as officials.

The national basketball team below the age of 16 is as follows: Captain, Anthony Darren Barnard (St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10), Vice Captain, Diluk Samarawickrama (Melbourne High School), Ashnavi Bilal Shaffras (Colombo Gateway School), Dulaine James Thevarapperuma. (Colombo Gateway School), Anuk Sankalpa Peiris (Wattala Lyceum International School), Praveen Bandara Herath (Colombo International School), Adriel Brayan de Soyza (Kandy Trinity College), Chanindu Mahima Wijesinghe (St. Joseph’s College, Colombo), Dishan Adrian Wijewardene (St. Joseph’s College, Colombo), Aaron Gerald (St. Joseph’s College, Colombo), Sudham Indivera Liyanage (Colombo Ananda College), Jude Akash Gnankan (St. Joseph’s College, Wattala).
