Hansani Gomes and Srimali Samarakoon will be in action today (4) at the World Weightlifting Championships 2023 in Riyadh Saudi Arabia.
Three Sri Lankans will be in action in the event.
Indika Dissanayake will compete in the men’s under 73 kg weight class, Hansani Gomes will compete in the women’s under 49 kg weight class and Srimali Samarakoon will compete in the women’s under 45 kg weight class.
Nadika Bandara and R.B. Wickramasinghe are the coaches of this team.Indika Dissanayake is the team leader.
The 2023 World Weightlifting Championships is an upcoming weightlifting competition scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 4 to 17 September 2023. The event serves as a mandatory event to qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
