Kolkata Knight Riders secured their first victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore at TATA IPL 2023. RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and invited KKR to bat first. Shardul Thakur showed a brilliant performance for KKR, scoring 68 runs off 29 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 9 fours, and was awarded the man of the match. RCB bowlers David Willey and Karn Sharma took 2 wickets each. KKR posted a target of 204/7.
In the second innings, RCB lost their wickets at regular intervals. Varun Chakravarthy took 4 wickets for just 15 runs. RCB could only score 123 runs, resulting in KKR winning by 81 runs.
