Najibullah Zadran steers Afghanistan to Super-4 Stage

Ibrahim Zadran and Najibullah Zadran stitched unbeaten 69 runs off only 33 balls to help Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on Tuesday.

Afghanistan chased down 128 runs in 18.3 overs to advance to the Super-4 stage. They were tottering at 62 for 3 after 13 overs but the partnership between Ibrahim Zadran and Najibullah Zadran turned the game on its head. Ibrahim Zadran unbeaten 42 off 41 balls, while Najibullah Zadran hit a blazing 43 not out off 17 balls.

Earlier, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan claimed three wickets each as Afghanistan restricted Bangladesh to 127/7. Mujeeb Ur Rahman set the tone for Afghanistan by striking thrice before Rashid Khan capitalized on it to put Bangladesh in further trouble.

Notably, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan had won the toss and opted to bat first in the game.
