West Ham shocks Liverpool

Watford scored three second-half goals to condemn runaway leaders Liverpool to a shock first league defeat of the season, while West Ham climbed out of the relegation zone with a first league win since 1 January.

Ismaila Sarr poked home Abdoulaye Doucoure’s cross to open the scoring at Vicarage Road, before doubling his tally with a dinked finish six minutes later.

Troy Deeney sealed a remarkable 3-0 win after capitalising on a mix-up between Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and goalkeeper Alisson.

The result lifts Nigel Pearson’s side out of the bottom three on goal difference, while Jurgen Klopp’s team miss the chance to extend their lead over second-placed Manchester City to 25 points.

Jarrod Bowen scored on his first Premier League start as West Ham swept aside Southampton 3-1 at London Stadium.

Signed from Championship club Hull City in a £20m-plus deal in January, Bowen gave David Moyes’ strugglers the perfect start before Michael Obafemi’s equaliser.

But the Hammers climbed above Aston Villa, who play Man City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, and Bournemouth into 16th spot after goals by Sebastian Haller and Michail Antonio.
