Malaysia win Asian Youth Netball crown

 

UALA LUMPUR: Malaysia defeated Singapore 57-48 in the final of the Asian Youth Netball Championship in Kashima, Japan on Sunday.

With the victory, Malaysia have qualified for the 2021 World Youth Netball Championship in Fiji.

Singapore put up quite a fight as they led 16-13 in the first quarter.

However, Malaysia, coached by Aminah Asaari, bounced back in the following three quarters to seal the title.

Earlier, the Malaysians defeated Taiwan (90-11), Japan (102-16), Brunei (84-25) and Hong Kong (62-35) in the preliminary round, followed by a 72-54 success over Sri Lanka in the semi-finals to earn a crack at the title.
