St. Joseph’s College Colombo 10 emerged the All Island ‘A’ Division Basketball Championship organized by Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association. The finals played recently at the St. Joseph’s College Basketball Courts between St. Joseph’s College Colombo and Ananda College Colombo meet each other to battle it out for the championship.
Josephians dominated the final from the beginning to beat Anandians with 79-47 to take the championships. Shannon De Silva was adjudged as the Best Offensive Player and the Josephian skipper Shehan Fernando who performed well during this tournament finally was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Earlier Josephian team beat Loyola College Negombo (73-30) in the quarterfinals while they defeated Lyceum International School Nugegoda(56-30) in the semifinals to enter the final. St Joseph Principal Rec Fr Travis Gabrial and Deputy Rector Anton Ranjith always encouraged this team for their success while Prefect of Games Fr Milan Bernard and Master in charge Asiri Kaldera back the side from the beginning. They had a good supporting staff headed by Roshan Randima the head coach and former Josephian and National player Praneeth Udumalagala and Shane Daniel assistant coaches all of them gave their best effort to develop the team skills.
