A bill to restructure Sri Lanka Cricket based on principles such as good governance, transparency, and accountability has been published in the Gazette. Issued under the directive of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, this bill provides for the re-establishment of the Sri Lanka Cricket institution.
The Act states that the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka shall be the Patron of Sri Lanka Cricket; however, if the President declines this position, the Patron shall be any other person who agrees to accept the office of Patron at the request of the Board.
It is stipulated that the administration of Sri Lanka Cricket affairs be entrusted to a Board of Directors comprising 14 members. The Board is to consist of seven qualified independent directors selected by a nomination committee and seven additional members elected through a vote by the Sri Lanka Cricket membership
