Ravindu Jayanath, competing in the 60kg weight class at the Commonwealth Games, qualified for the next round by defeating Max Makana of the Solomon Islands with a 5–0 verdict.
He will face Guernsey's Niall Adams today in the Round of 16. Meanwhile, Sithija Sudamma, competing in the men's 80kg weight class, was defeated by Canada's Joshua Opari in the Round of 32.
