Sri Lanka team advances unbeaten in the Davis Cup tournament.

The undefeated Sri Lankan team secured promotion to the Group III tournament—scheduled for next year—after competing in the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group IV event, the largest tennis tournament held in Sri Lanka.

Seven countries participated in the tournament, which took place at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts in Colombo; alongside Sri Lanka, the Qatar team also earned promotion to Group III
Iraq and Turkmenistan, having performed poorly, were relegated to Group V. The Sri Lanka team comprised Apna Perera, Tehan Wijemanne, Saha Kapilasena, and Ganuka Fernando, with Mineth Navaratne serving as the reserve player. Mr. Sankha Atukorala served as the coach and non-playing captain of the Sri Lanka tennis team.
In this tournament, Sri Lankan players recorded a 3–1 victory over Qatar in the singles round, and 2–0 victories over the Northern Mariana Islands and Kuwait in the doubles matches.
