Colombo Kaps registered a convincing 23 run victory over Kandy Royals in the ninth match of the Lanka Premier League 2026 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
After being put in to bat, Colombo Kaps recovered from an early collapse thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 52 from Janith Liyanage and a quick fire 53 by Rubin Hermann. Valuable late contributions from James Neesham (24) and Binura Fernando (21) helped the Kaps post a challenging 192/9 in 20 overs.
In reply, Kandy Royals struggled to build partnerships despite Dale Phillips scoring 38 and captain Angelo Mathews remaining unbeaten on 39. Mujeeb Ur Rahman starred with the ball, claiming 3 wickets, while Shahnawaz Dahani, Wanuja Sahan, James Neesham, and Malsha Tharupathi picked up a wicket each to restrict the Royals to 169/8.
