Sri Lankan-American gymnast Tiana Sumanasekara has announced that she will represent Sri Lanka.
In a message shared on social media, she stated that she has always had a deep passion for gymnastics and has loved the sport since her first day.
She said it was an honor to represent Team USA for the past five years and expressed gratitude for the opportunities the journey has given her. Tiana said competing for Sri Lanka would be “an absolute dream come true” and that representing the country would allow her to honor her heritage and contribute to more talent for gymnastics in Sri Lanka and South Asia.
“As a Sri Lankan American, my heart will always be proud to belong to both countries,” she wrote, thanking her supporters and adding that she is excited for the opportunities ahead.
