Sri Lanka got off to an impressive start at the 2026 Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifying Event, cruising to a dominant 3-0 win over Macau at the SLTA courts in Colombo yesterday.
Ashlin de Silva led the charge in the opening singles match, delivering a commanding performance to defeat Hei U Chao in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. Playing with confidence and control from the baseline, Ashlin gave his opponent little chance to settle into the match.
Mayooran Kubherane carried that momentum into the second singles encounter, producing another strong display to overcome Chak Sum Rex Xu 6-2, 6-1. Mixing consistency with attacking play, Kubherane kept his opponent under constant pressure throughout.
The Sri Lankan duo then sealed the clean sweep in the doubles match. Kubherane and Ashlin combined effectively, showcasing sharp coordination and net dominance to defeat Chak Sum Rex Xu and Ka Chong 7-4, 6-0, completing a comprehensive victory for the hosts.
