Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by innings and 73 runs and sealed the series 1-0

Bangladesh, who needed 93 runs to avoid an innings defeat with 4 wickets in hand after struggling on 118 for 6 wickets overnight, were bowled out for 131 runs just one hour of play this morning at the SSC.

It was such a disappointment defeat in the history of Bangladesh cricket after coming up with a sterling performance in Sri Lankan test fortress of Galle in the first test.

The main reason for the tigers being comprehensively dumped was their batting display in both innings.

Batting first and to be bowled out for 247 in the first innings was appaling to state the least.

They let Sri Lanka score 458 runs and leaked lots of runs with seamers bowling to both sides of the wickets whilst the Sri Lankan seamers, namely Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando bowled with great discipline, using the seam and hitting the areas of uncertainty against the Bangladesh batters. Sri Lankan spinners, namely prabath Jayasuriya despite being wicketless in the first innings, got his line in the second innings, took 5 for 58 , with Dhananjaya de Silva rolling his arm over scalping 2 for 13 , and Tharindu Ratnayaka 2 for 19.

Pathum Nissanka 158 , Chandimal 93, and Kusal Mendis 84 orchestrated Sri Lankan winning total of 458.

Taijul Islam 4 for 121 and Nayeem Hassan 4 for 87 must be given credit bowling to a strong Sri Lanka batting line up.
