Sri Lanka ended Day 3 of the first Test in Galle on 284 all out, leaving India with a first innings lead of 178 runs.
India, who posted a huge 462 after choosing to bat first, put Sri Lanka under early pressure. The hosts lost wickets regularly before Sonal Dinusha and Niroshan Dickwella gave them hope with a strong sixth wicket partnership. Dinusha completed a brilliant century, scoring 100 from 168 balls, while Dickwella made a valuable 80.
However, India’s bowlers fought back late in the day. Manav Suthar was the star with four wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja claimed three. Sri Lanka were eventually bowled out in 79.4 overs.
