West Indies ended the day on a positive note after Justin Greaves and Shai Hope combined for a superb unbeaten 174-run partnership to keep their team in the fight.
After conceding more than 500 runs, the visitors needed resilience, and the duo responded with a composed display of patience and smart stroke play.
They negotiated the entire final session without losing a wicket, adding 99 runs in 34 overs while steadily reducing the deficit. With both batters well set in the 80s and the team still trailing by 231 runs, West Indies will hope the pair can convert their starts into centuries on the next morning.
