The Kandy team, led by Dimantha Mahawithana, won the ‘Youth League’ cricket tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket for under-19 players.
The Galle team lost to the Kandy team by 7 wickets in the final match of the tournament, which was held with the participation of 5 teams.
The victorious Kandy team received a cash prize of Rs. 500,000 along with the championship trophy, while the runners-up Galle received Rs. 300,000.
Batting first, Galle scored 210 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, while Kandy achieved the target of 228 runs according to the Duckworth-Lewis method with the loss of 3 wickets.
Dimantha Mahawithana, who played an innings as captain, scored 107 runs off 107 balls with 4 fours and a six. Mahendra Abeysinghe added 71 runs to the innings. Captain Dulsith Darshana had scored 74 runs for the Galle team.
The award ceremony was held under the patronage of Sri Lanka Cricket's Tournament Organizing Committee Head Prasanna Fernando, and Dimantha Mahawithana won the Man of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards. Senuja Wekunagoda of Colombo North won the Best Batsman award and Kanilka Anthony of Kandy won the Best Bowler award.
