A reception was held in Horana yesterday to welcome Javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga, who has won three gold medals and a silver medal in four of the world's leading sporting events.
A series of welcoming ceremonies were organized from the Bandaragama-Galanigama expressway entrance, which proceeded along the Panadura-Ratnapura road to Horana town. Rumesh's coach Tony Prasanna was also felicitated, while Thushara Premakeerthi, a veteran player from Haltota, is Rumesh Tharanga's father.
