Delhi Capitals started their Indian Premier League 2026 campaign in style, beating Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first. Their bowlers put early pressure on the Lucknow batting lineup and bowled them out for just 141 runs in 18.4 overs.
Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan were the standout performers with the ball, taking 3 wickets each.
In the chase, KL Rahul was dismissed for a duck on the very first ball by Mohammed Shami, giving Lucknow an early breakthrough. However, Sameer Rizvi played a brilliant innings, scoring 70 runs and guiding Delhi Capitals to victory. Sri Lankan player Pathum Nissanka scored 15 runs on his IPL debut.
Delhi Capitals chased down the target comfortably, finishing at 142 for 4 in 17.1 overs.
